Yes, God still Heals today.

Posted by Malcolm May on 1/16/2026

Yes, God still Heals today.

What are you hearing regarding healing?

Yes, God still heals today. Or does God heal today?

As you read my latest article on healing, I pray and believe that, as you read, your doubts will be washed away and you will receive your healing. You will be encouraged to begin praying for others to be healed in the mighty name of Jesus.

So, let's start with the word of God.

John 1:1-4

In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 He existed in the beginning with God.3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.4 The Word gave life to everything that was created,[a] and his life brought light to everyone.

We know Jesus was right there at the very beginning. Jesus is the Word of God. His Word is so powerful that it can literally create and bring light. “Let there be light” (Genesis 1:3). Our words as believers are also powerful; when we partner with God’s Word, we can bring HEALING and LIFE into any situation. Jesus healed all who came to Him; all who the devil oppressed were delivered. Jesus is looking for people to step out in faith, speak His words literally, and believe. Obeying His Words without compromise.

Let's read these scriptures.

Mark 9:23

23 “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.

Matthew 4:23

23 Jesus travelled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness.

Matthew 8:16

16 That evening, many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick.

Acts 10:38

38 And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Jesus has purchased your healing.

The Bible says that Jesus paid for our healing in the same way he paid for our sins.

Isaiah 53:4-5

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows[a] that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! 5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

It's so easy for people to believe that Jesus died for them and their sin and their sins are taken away, but when it comes to healing, people doubt. There is no difference, the WORD says it, so it’s true literally, people doubt when they don’t see their healing or if people have never seen healing, they share their unbelief, which is contrary to the word of God. Disbelief is a sin.

I have always believed in healing but it has taken many years to remove my doubts and the fear of man, the first miracle I saw was not long after I was saved, 20 years ago I was working in a sheet metal factory when a guy had something in his eye, it was red blood shot and very sore, I prayed for him, firstly laid hands on his eye spoke the name of Jesus over his eye and instantly the pain stopped his eye was no longer red, thank you Jesus. I shared this testimony to encourage you that we are on the most incredible journey. It is a journey; never lose hope. Many people see a miracle of healing, or healings, but give up when they don’t see a miracle of healing again, or they become sick themselves and stop believing and praying, and doubt kicks in. I was once at that place where I was so ill with an autoimmune disease that it rocked my whole world. It took me down for many years, and I believed I could not pray for people as I was sick, a total lie that I had thought, yes. At times, we lose hope when we don’t get that breakthrough. Your Healing is coming in the name of Jesus. What God has begun, God will finish!

Let's read these scriptures.

1 Peter 2:24

24 He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

Jesus died on the cross for you and me, for your sins to be taken away, and for your sickness to be healed, and by Jesus wounds you are HEALED!!

Psalm 103:2-3

2 Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.3 He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.

Matthew 8:17

17 This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said,“He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”[a]

Is it God's will for me to be healed?

Some people believe it's not God's will for them to be healed; they believe it’s a season in their life where God is trying to teach them or punish them for what they might have done. Several other reasons people don’t get healed are that they don’t want to, they like being a victim and love the attention, or they are on a work compensation plan. What I have just written is very harsh, but it's what I have seen over the years.

It is the complete opposite of God's nature. Our God is our Father in Heaven, and God loves you so much even went to the point of having Jesus die for you. Go back to 1 Peter 2:24. It is Jesus' will for you to be healed, and Jesus has compassion for you to be healed. Jesus was moved when He saw the hurting. Everything Jesus has done in the 4 Gospels shows us what is possible. We are all asked to take steps of faith and believe for our own healing, and also to pray for those who are sick to be healed, and the scripture backs it. It is God's will for you to be healed.

Let's read these scriptures.

Mark 1:40-41

40 A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said.41 Moved with compassion,[a] Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!”

Matthew 14:14

14 Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

Jesus’s Authority.

The authority to heal the sick is not in my name or your name.

It’s not in the pastor's authority, nor is it in the apostle's authority; it is in the name of Jesus. The word of God, the scriptures are so powerful.

Luke 4:32

And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.

God wants to work through us because He has empowered us to pray for the sick in His name, grounded in Jesus' sacrifice with His stripes. Without understanding your authority, you will have some doubts. When you pray, you do so with the full authority of the one who sent you.

Luke 9:1-2

Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

We have been sent by God, handpicked, trained, and equipped. It's all in the authority of God that we walk in.

When we see a policeman in uniform, we know he has authority.  We know the police officer has been trained on rules and regulations to uphold the law. He is also given weapons to enforce the law. His weapons can be a gun, a baton, a taser, but we all obey his authority when he says stop, we stop when he says go.

Jesus was amazed by the Roman officer's faith. He understood authority, and he knew that Jesus had it.

Matthew 8: 5-10, 13

5 When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer[b] came and pleaded with him, 6 “Lord, my young servant[c] lies in bed, paralysed and in terrible pain.”7 Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.”8 But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. 9 I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.”10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!

13 Then Jesus said to the Roman officer, “Go back home. Because you believed, it has happened.” And the young servant was healed that same hour.

Jesus has sent us with authority to go into the world, and we are trained by the Holy Spirit; our weapons are the Word of God and the name of Jesus.

Let's read these scriptures.

Luke 4:32

And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.

Luke 9:49-50

49 John said to Jesus, “Master, we saw someone using your name to cast out demons, but we told him to stop because he isn’t in our group.” 50 But Jesus said, “Don’t stop him! Anyone who is not against you is for you.”

Acts 4:10 let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ and Nazarene the man crucified but whom God raised from the dead.

Acts 16:18

18 This went on day after day until Paul got so exasperated that he turned and said to the demon within her, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And instantly it left her.

How to pray for the sick.

The scriptures tells us that God still heals.

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore.

Jesus has provided healing for us. Jesus has also given us the authority to be a strong witness for Him. This is where we come in. We have to take a step of faith and believe that we will do the same works and even greater works. Some of the works Jesus did were healing the sick.

John 14:12

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

The Bible clearly tells us to stretch out our hand and lay our hands on the sick when it's appropriate, to speak the Word of God, and to use the name of Jesus.

Let's read these scriptures.

Acts 4:30

by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”

Acts 5:12

And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch.

Acts 14:3

Therefore, they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

We were coming to end of our time in Kenya last year and I had prayed for a young man who had terrible pain in his right shoulder and had trouble sleeping, and could hardly move his arm, as I prayed for the man and he had such a powerful encounter with the Holy Spirit, I expected him to move his arm but he couldn’t, I asked him what had happened and he said fire run through his body and he was burning when I prayed, but no difference to the movement in his arm, he shared his testimony the next day at the conference, that pain in his arm had gone and he slept for for the first night pain free since the accident, but still had no movement,  I was thinking one part of me was really excited with what had happened but the side of me was slightly disappointed with what had happened, but  I had done all I could, I had stepped out in faith prayed in the name of Jesus to be healed and that is all Jesus asks us to do, the rest is up to Jesus. 2 months later I was sent a photo with his arm raised high, thank you Jesus.

I attend Fire Church in Carrum Downs, and every Wednesday, while we were doing our internship, we walked the streets of Frankston in groups for a few hours in the afternoon. I came across this lady, sitting on a bus stop bench, and as I was talking to her, the Holy Spirit said she had shoulder and back issues, so I mentioned it to her, and she said yes, so I prayed and continued to talk with her, the lady didn’t say much, however some of the others came past this lady and asked how she is and the lady said a man prayed for me earlier and the pain I had in my shoulders has gone. I did not know this until we caught up for our debrief.

I share these 2 testimonies to encourage you not to worry about the instant results. Yes, we love it when we see it happen instantly, but we don’t always know what God is doing for that person right as we pray.

Never be disappointed when you’ve prayed, as it’s not you who does the healing, it is Jesus. Jesus asks us to be faithful and believe.

We have been selected by God to help build HIS Kingdom. When we unite our faith in God's word, stand knowing our authority as ones being sent, and trust that God cannot lie, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit and to speak the powerful name of Jesus.

Let's read these scriptures. Search for them in your bible and highlight them, meditate on them.

John 14:12

Acts 3:1-16

Matthew 8:1-3

Matthew 15:6

Luke 4:38-39

Acts 4:10

Acts 4:30

Psalm 103:2-3

1 Peter 2:24

Prayer time.

I would like to pray for HEALING first that you will be healed, and secondly that the Holy Spirit will equip you to go out into the world and pray for the sick.

Let me pray for you. As you read these words, the Holy Spirit will begin to minister to you right now in the name of Jesus. 1 Peter 2:24,24 He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. By the wounds of Jesus, you are healed. This sickness does not belong in this body, and I command it to leave right now in the name of Jesus. Amen

Let me pray, hold out your arms to receive. Holy Spirit, right now fill, fill. In Luke 9:1-2          Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Acts 1:8  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Jesus, release the Holy Spirit as you did with the disciples. Release the power now on whoever reads this, release power to be a witness to Jesus. Jesus, send them into the world, seeing salvation and people healed in your name. Amen
